The fact that only one road leads into the valley and Engelberg, could be one reason for the stress free and unhurried atmosphere. During the 19th century the village blossomed as a spa resort, but today’s visitors are usually skiers, snowboarders or trekkers from all over the world, looking for a unique experience on the magnificent countryside.
Engelberg is well known for its excellent skiing and other outdoor activities. Many keen skiers come back year after year. Engelberg offers something for everyone. The ski area is well developed and offers great piste skiing as well as fantastic off piste skiing. We recommend that you always ski with a guide when you want to go off piste. He/she can guide you to safe and great skiing.
Mount Titlis is the high alpine area with skiing all the way down from 3,000 m to1,000 m. You can choose between slightly more demanding skiing and easier slopes. There are some real “world championship slopes” on the glacier which build confidence at the same time as challenging you and your carving skis/snowboard. Most of the slopes face north and offers good snow conditions also in late season.
Brunni is the more family friendly and sunny side of the valley. You can often find untouched snow between these south facing slopes. If you ski with a guide you can enjoy a wonderful run down the back of Brunni, between the chalets, to Grünewald. From there you take a taxi back to Engelberg.

Shuttle buses operate the whole village and will bring you to and from the liftstation. Bus nr. 4 stops just outside the hotel every 30 min. The other buses stops outside the Tourist office, 100 m from our entrance.
Sporting Park Engelberg
For rainy days, the Sporting Park in Engelberg is the perfect spot to spend a few hours doing all kinds of sports: skating and curling on the ice rinks, tennis (outdoor and indoor courts), badminton and a climbing wall are available.
In the summer the village is a perfect basecamp for hikers and mountainbikers that want to explore the nearby mountain scenery. The highest point is Mt. Titlis with its 3,239 m/10,627 ft.
The town centre runs along the mostly pedestrianised Dorfstrasse, stretching from the railway station past our hotel to the monastery, which was founded 1120 and is still active.
